Girls Gone Wilde!

The Girls Gone Wilde! Cabaret will feature sizzling short performances to light up the Lunchbox Theatre stage across two nights on May 3 and 4.

Featuring the work of Calgary-and-area writers, performers, choreographers, and directors:

The Carrying by Jennifer Roberts
A mix of theatre dance and clown, The Carrying follows the trek of two sisters who entertain each other with made up stories of horrible women dying horrible deaths. A story about the weight of memories.
Directed by Kathryn Smith. Performed by Kelly Malcolm and Camille Pavlenko

Stuck on Crowchild by Jamie Dunsdon
Stuck on Crowchild is an absurd comedy about two civil engineers who, after years of planning Calgary roadways, find themselves stuck on Crowchild Trail during an impossibly stubborn traffic jam. Featuring voodoo hexes, a god-like Volkswagen Jetta, and enough road rage to teach us all a thousand new ways to hate our fellow commuters.
Directed by Kira Bradley. Performed by Jamie Dunsdon and Ayla Stephen.

Elephant by The Janes (Heather Falk, Joleen Ceraldi and Helen Knight)
The silence is awful; in it, our shame is heavy. So for the love of God, DON’T YOU DARE STOP TALKING. And keep the music blaring, the tv on, the radio chattering away and if we’re very, very careful, we won’t ever have to deal with what’s actually going on.
Directed by Jacqueline Russell. Performed by The Janes.

Excerpts from The Trojan Women Adapted by Michaela Jeffery
Michaela Jeffery’s adaptation of The Trojan Women transforms the nameless women of Euripides’ chorus into mothers, sisters, friends–women we feel like we know. In the ashes of their city after a decade-long conflict, the female survivors of Troy struggle to pick up the pieces of their lives.
Directed by Lindsey Zess-Funk. Performed by Mikaela Cochrane, Cassidy Waring, Deborah Ferguson, Ali DeRegt, Holleay Rohm, Wendy Froberg, Natalie Gauthier, Genevieve Dale, Genvieve Pare, and Sonia Robb. Assistant Director Lara Schmitz.

“The Fly” from The Disembodied Lady Created and performed by Leda Davies
If the fly on your hospital wall could speak what stories would it tell? Exploring themes of fear, captivity and people’s connection to their bodies, “The Fly” is a haunting monologue that will have you doubting whether you’re any more important than a mere maggot.

Not a Bird Created and performed by Oriana Pagnotta
“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me”
–Jane Eyre, Charlotte Brontë
Not a Bird is a journey through the labyrinthine legislation of women’s bodies.

Tickets are $15 at the door only. Shows nightly at 9:30pm.
