Hurray, hurray, HURRAY for Catherine Banks! What a wonderful piece it was to work on and how lucky that Urban Curvz was privileged enough to produce its premier (which, I suspect, was due largely to Kathryn Waters's tenacity--as well has her instinctual understanding of the script which set Catherine immediately at ease). It's a great shame that more people didn't see it, because it was a fantastic script and--I believe--a great production.

What I do remember from Catherine being in rehearsals was her great respect for the process and her unwillingness to interrupt with her own feedback or suggestions. While, from a director's perspective, these are obviously highly valuable qualities for a playwright in the rehearsal room, Catherine (who had already won the 2008 GG for 'Bone Cage') was so humble that I think she often undervalued the significance and usefulness of her own contributions. It sounds as though she's found a fascinating way in to the rehearsal process and a valuable rehearsal-room role for herself, despite her uncertainty vis-a-vis the language. Can't wait to read the full interview [where I suspect we will find that a slow passage was, in fact, being played TOO quickly and not TO quickly ;)]!
