Essay takes place in the office of a
Teaching Assistant in the history department of a contemporary university.
It deals with a first-year student who unwittingly gets caught in a
conflict between the T.A. and his chairman about gender politics. The
script is full of hilarious academese - the kind where nobody listens, as
they’re all too busy promoting their own agendas.
Set in the Russia of the 1920s, The Russian Play
tells the story of Sonya, a flower shop girl with a wry sense of humor
about herself. As she says, “Stupid, stupid Sonya!” |
